SheerLark Farm is a diversified, sustainable, family farm located on Sand Mountain in northeastern Alabama. Our dream is to create and maintain a healthy, dynamic eco-system on these 58 acres in the Appalachian foothills. Through our stewardship, we strive to support our family and to offer wholesome, delicious, chemical-free foods to others in our community.
In previous years, our primary agricultural focus has been the production of naturally raised dairy and meat goats along with smaller numbers of swine, lambs, and beef for custom processing. We have also long maintained a flock of laying hens producing naturally raised eggs which we offered for sale from the farm.
Last year we moved one step further toward our dream of sustainable diversity on our farm by expanding our family garden into a "Certified Naturally Grown" market garden. We do not use any synthetic chemical pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers in our gardens or on our pastures. Our main source of soil nutrients for our pastures is the manure produced and recycled here on the farm by our animals. In the gardens we use farm generated compost & mulches and OMRI certified Neptune's Harvest fertilizer to nourish and build our precious soils.
